Not a lot of forward progress on the draft today, but there was a lot work on the supporting infrastructure. The title isn’t strictly accurate. I have done a lot of world-building with rules and how certain things work. But I needed more.

I drew a map of the local community. That’s going to help prevent mistakes. I also created a bunch of new background characters. They’re basically NPCs, but they need to be there so the world I’m writing is lived-in.

Here’s today’s writing stats:

Date 3/23/2026
Words (Draft) 212
Words (Elsewhere) 462
Words (Total) 674
Characters (Draft) 1164
Characters (Elsewhere) 2997
Characters (Total) 4161
Session Target 1664

And the context-free excerpt is a note on one of the families living in the community part-time:

Parker family
Seattle area
Theo. Born. Adjunct professor of environmental studies at Western Washington University
Quinn. Born. Part-time office manager, BP Cherry Point
Children
Wesley, 12.
Rowan. 10. Changes
Hazel, 6.
Wesley not changing is causing a bit of sibling stress. Rowan is a little dick about it. But him changing makes the full moon stressful for Theo and Quinn. He can’t really do it voluntarily. Luckily they had brought him with them the first time he changed for the moon.
They met at a protest outside BP’s Cherry Point refinery. Someone threw oil and it got on Quinn. Theo punched the guy and helped her. She bailed him out of jail. Meet cute?
