Yesterday was a bust. It happens, life gets in the way. Today was a major writing progress day. I blew past the target and kept on going.
I didn’t think I was going to make a lot of writing progress today. I started late. I had other things to get done. But somehow I got into the flow and just kept going.
I did spend some time making notes for future revisions. As I wrote yesterday two days ago, I learned some things from Savannah Gilbo’s podcast that made me rethink my opening and how I was handling opposition to my character’s goals. I spent some time on that. But I did not go back and rewrite anything just yet. That’s the enemy of completing that first draft.
Here are today’s stats:

Words (Elsewhere) 148

Characters (Draft) 15107

And the context-free quote:
Patricia folded her paper. “Kitten, turn the sign on. Unlock the doors.”
“But it’s not 4 yet. We said 4.”
“Yes we did. Nobody cares if you open 15 minutes early. But it will make you relax. And if you don’t stop pacing and fiddling with every damn thing in the bar, I am going to lock you in the basement and not let you out until we need to restock the beer. And that might not be tonight.”
